After all, the approaching holidays always inspire me to pull out my old sewing machine and begin crafting again!
After 20 years of making kids' Halloween costume dreams come true to personalizing stockings for everyone in the family, sewing something beautiful and functional for my family is just something I can't skip over - fall sewing is pretty much a tradition for me.
Even though the kids are now grown and we probably already have too many holiday table runners and place mats, I simply can't imagine not sewing at this time of year.
What I can imagine, though, is creating my next project on a NEW sewing machine! For a while now, I've been intrigued by the new Brother CS6000i computerized sewing machine featuring 60 decorative stitches and foot-free sewing - that's right, using the foot pedal is not required! I've had a love-hate relationship with sewing machine foot pedals ever since my dog, Misia, discovered that she could get my sudden and undivided attention by grabbing the pedal and attempting to take off with it!
After doing a little research, I'm convinced that this Brother sewing machine just might be perfect for crafting. Even better, this particular machine can be had for just under $170.00, a mere fraction of its suggested retail price. Want to find out more about the CS6000i? . . .What Brother computerized sewing machine features are discussed often in forums and online reviews? Here are 3 topics that are mentioned frequently:
1. Push button start/stop sewing and sewing speed control levers - with this favorite feature seamstresses can set a maximum stitching speed, so that even if the foot pedal should be pushed to the floor, the machine will only go as fast as is allowed by the control. In fact, the foot pedal does not even have to be used at all, as sewing can be started and stopped by the push of a button right next to the easy to read LCD screen.
2. Extremely lightweight machines - checking in for as little as 17 pounds. This makes them super easy to transport, whether from room to room or across the country. One TV show host boasted on the air that she simply tucked her Brother machine into a carry on and then . . .
